Motorhome Rental Insurance

Many motorhome rental companies now require clients to provide their own insurance or provide insurance at extra cost.  Great Alaskan Holidays continues to include free liability insurance coverage as part of our service.

Insurance coverage is based upon whether the rental is recreational or commercial.  Please read below to understand the differences.  Most rentals will be considered recreational rentals.

Our insurance meets Alaska State Statutory limits, which as of March, 2017, are:

  • Liability (Bodily Injury) $50,000/person, $100,000/accident
  • Property Damage $25,000/accident
  • Uninsured Motorist $50,000/person, $100,000/accident

Drivers & Driving Licenses

At the time of rental, vehicle drivers must be 25 years of age or older and must have a valid driver’s license issued from their state or country of residence. If the license is in a language other than English, the driver must also possess an International Driver’s Permit.  The primary renter/driver of the vehicle is included in your rental fees.  Additional drivers of the vehicle may be added for a daily fee.

Canadian Customs does not allow a Canadian resident to drive a U.S. owned vehicle across the border from the U.S. into Canada. If you have questions about this policy, please contact Canadian Customs.

Authorized drivers may be asked to sign a driving record addendum or be subject to a computerized Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) check. Great Alaskan Holidays will rely on the information provided from the electronic DMV verification and/or from the driving record addendum to determine if the renter/authorized driver is qualified to rent/operate the vehicle.

The rental and/or authorized driver privileges will be denied if the driver’s license verification indicates that the renter/authorized driver’s license is:

  1. Currently suspended, revoked, expired, invalid or surrendered.
  2. If he/she has, within the past 36 months, paid a fine or pleaded guilty or no contest to or otherwise been convicted of:
    • Reckless disregard for life or property.
    • Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Driving Under the Influence (DUI).
    • Driving While Alcohol Impaired (DWAI) or other alcohol or controlled substance related convictions.
    • Leaving the scene of an accident or failure to report an accident.
    • Possession of a stolen vehicle or use of a vehicle in a crime.
  3. If he/she has, within the past 36 months, paid a fine or pleaded guilty or no contest to or otherwise been convicted of:
    • 3 or more moving violations, including seatbelt violations and speeding violations.
    • 2 or more motor vehicle accidents.

Great Alaskan Holidays will not rent to anyone whose driving record reflects any of the above violations. Great Alaskan Holidays reserves the right to change, add to, and/or modify any or all of these conditions without any prior notification.

If the renter/authorized driver provides false or misleading information, liability protection for the customer will be voided. Additionally, the customer will be responsible for any damage to the rental vehicle, property damage to others, personal injury to themselves and personal liability to others.
